The benefits of sea salt for relieving arthritis pain – Part 2

Who doesn’t know the taste of tears? Aren’t they salty? That’s because they are made up from something called lymph fluid. Lymph fluid has many minerals and mainly sodium. It is the same fluid that lubricates our joints too. When this fluid decreases it results in friction when the joints move causing pain and swelling.
There can be many reasons for the lymph fluid to decrease, but one of the main reasons is lack of “organic salt” in our diet which is found in nature, it is not processed like our regular sodium chloride or our table salt. Table salt is not very efficiently absorbed in our body, as it is chemically treated and processed to make it pure white and help it stay in powder form. It makes the lymph fluid thicker or causes it to dry up. While organic salt will provide your body with many essential minerals including sodium, potassium, magnesium, chloride, iron, sulfur and bromide.
A major and direct source of organic salt is sea salt but it is also found in many foods, like Green leafy vegetables, Beets, Okra, Strawberries, Celery, Goat milk and whey in small amounts. Sea salt is made by drying up the sea water in water beds right beside the sea shore. It is available in stores under many brands but before you buy make sure that it is purely organic, or kosher and is not at all processed.
Our joints need minerals and vitamins to stay lubricated, but if there is lack of them in our diet it creates lot of problems, one of them is arthritis. There are about 84 minerals that our body needs, 24 of them are absolutely essential. Sea salt will provide you many of these. But if you only rely on our regular refined table salt you will only get about 2 or 3 of them like sodium, and iodine.
Try using sea salt in your everyday cooking instead of table salt, which will not only add more distinctive taste to your food but is healthy for you too. But as the sea salt does not contain iodine as the fortified table salt, make sure that you are consuming other iodine rich foods like milk, cheeses, yogurt and green leafy vegetables.
The minerals in the organic sea salt will help your body get rid of the harmful substances by increasing circulation and decreasing retention of fluids. Bromides in it will reduce muscle stiffness by relaxing them, helping the arthritis sufferers by easing the joint movement. Similarly the sodium and calcium in the sea salt keep balance of the lymphatic fluid which lines and lubricates the joint and also strengthening the bones.
